Principals

Principal, Richard Fanelli, AIA, CFM, IFMA Fellow, is a registered architect and has been in the commercial design profession since 1977. Working as an architect and designer for both local and national design firms in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. he founded Fanelli McClain in 1985. Rich has his finger on the pulse of current workplace and facilities trends and technologies through his involvement as an active member of the International Facilities Management Association (IFMA), where he has served on the International Board of Directors and stays involved in the Capital Chapter of IFMA. Rich is the current President of the IFMA FM Consultant’s Council which has members from all over the world. Rich teaches IFMA International’s Project Management FMP certificate course nationwide and has presented various topics at six IFMA International World Workplace Conferences.He serves as an instructor for the Facility Management Certificate Program at George Mason University where he has taught thousands of professional facilities managers since 1995. 

He is a frequent contributor to local and national facilities management and business publications, including textbooks published by The Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI), and has recently authored a book entitled, “Best Project Management Practices.”

 


Principal, Sonny McClain, AIA, LEED AP ID+C, is a registered architect with over 35 years of experience. He began his professional career working with large architectural firms specializing in base building design and hospital projects in Arkansas and Texas. Sonny has been associated with several large firms in Washington, D.C. and Dallas, Texas.His years of experience have included commercial and retail projects. Many of his client projects have been technical and design intensive.Our clients benefit from his depth of knowledge and his fresh, creative approach to space planning and design.
